Set Free Because of Jesus

Freedom in Jesus is the power of forgiveness.

Forgiveness, when it comes to us from God, sets us free from sin and its consequences. Forgiveness also frees us from guilt and shame which are often experienced after we’ve done something wrong or hurt someone else. That’s because when we confess our sins to Him, He not only forgives them but He also blots them out as if they had never been committed (Hebrews 10:17). We can then walk with a light step before Him knowing that His Spirit will give us victory over temptation (James 4:7). And what greater freedom is there than that?

You may be asking, “How do I know that Jesus has forgiven me?” The answer is simple. If you have surrendered your life to Him and acknowledged Him as Lord, then you can know for sure that He has forgiven you because His Word says so (1 John 1:9). You see, when we put our faith in Jesus Christ and ask Him to come into our hearts, we are born again—given a new life (John 3:3; 2 Corinthians 5:17). We become children of God (John 1:12) with all the rights and privileges that entails. One of those privileges is forgiveness. So if you belong to Jesus, you can hold on to the fact that your sins have been forgiven.

The Body of Christ

The Church is the body of Christ. Just as our physical body is made up of many different parts, each with its own unique function, so too is the Church made up of many different people, each with their own unique gifts and talents. And just as our physical body needs all its parts to function properly, so too does the Church need all its members to function effectively. We can’t pick and choose which parts of the Church we want to belong to or which functions we want to perform; we have to be part of the whole body.

That’s why it’s so important to be connected to a local church. Not only do we get to participate in the life and ministry of that church, but we also get to receive the love, care, and support of other believers. We need each other! Just as our physical body needs food and water to stay alive, so too does our spiritual body need the Word of God and prayer to stay healthy and strong.

The Importance of Sharing the Gospel

The importance of sharing the Gospel is summed up in what is known as the Great Commission. This is found in Matthew 28:19-20 where Jesus says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Sharing the Gospel is important because it is how we make disciples of Jesus Christ. It is how we introduce others to Him and help them come to know Him as their Savior. It is also how we edify and build up the body of Christ. And it is how we fulfill the Great Commission.

There are many ways to share the Gospel. You can share your testimony, hand out tracts, engage in one-on-one conversations, or even share the Gospel online. The important thing is that you are sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with others, and helping them come to know Him as their Lord and Savior.

New Life: Baptism

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” (Matthew 28:19).

Baptism is an important step of obedience for every follower of Jesus Christ. It is an outward expression of our faith in Him and our commitment to follow Him. It also identifies us with His death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:3-4).

Prayer

“And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions.” (Mark 11:25)

Prayer is one of the most important things that we can do as Christians. It is how we communicate with God, and it is how we stay connected to Him. Through prayer, we can express our needs, our thanksgiving, and our worship. We can also intercede for others, and ask God to work in their lives.

If you don’t have a regular prayer life, we encourage you to start today. Set aside some time each day to pray, and make it a priority in your life. You will be amazed at what God will do in your life when you make prayer a priority.
