King of Kings, Jesus Christ

Jesus, King of Kings. What a title! Who could have such power? Yet Jesus said it was true and he has the scars to prove it. He is the king of kings because he sacrificed himself for us so we may be forgiven, reconciled with God, and live in eternal life.

Jesus showed his love for us by dying on the cross and taking our sin upon himself. Now that’s what you call “kingly” service!

He didn’t just stop there, though; he also rose from death to show that death had no power over him or those who believe in Him (Romans 6:4). Jesus ascended into heaven where he sits at God’s right hand until one day he will return to judge the living and the dead.

What does all this mean for us?

First, it means that we can have a relationship with God. Second, it means that because Jesus died for us, our sins are forgiven and we can go to heaven when we die. Finally, it means that we should obey Jesus Christ and follow his teachings.

We Want You to Experience Life to the Fullest

The Church

After we come to faith in Jesus Christ, we are brought into the church – not a specific church building, but the universal body of believers all over the world. The Bible speaks of the church as the bride of Christ, and as such we are to love and care for her (Ephesians 5:25-27).

We are also to submit to the authority of church leadership (Hebrews 13:17) and participate in the life and missions of the local church. God has given the church two ordinances – baptism and the Lord’s Supper – which we participate in as a sign of our faith in Jesus Christ.

Becoming Christ-Like: Discipleship

Once we become followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to discipleship – a lifelong process of learning to obey Jesus Christ and be like him. Discipleship is not optional; Jesus said “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23).

This process of discipleship begins with repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, followed by instruction in the Bible and obedience to Jesus Christ’s commands. As we obey Him, we grow in our love for Him and begin to look more and more like Him. The ultimate goal of discipleship is to be conformed to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29).

The Importance of Community/Being Connected to a Church

Jesus said, “For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them” (Matthew 18:20). He desires for us to be connected to one another in community, and the local church is the perfect place for this to happen.

The Church is not just a building; it’s the people of God coming together to worship and serve Him. The Bible says that we are the body of Christ and that we need one another (1 Corinthians 12:27).

When we’re connected to a church, we have a place to belong and grow in our faith. We also have opportunities to serve others and share the gospel with them.

Representing Your New Life in Christ: Baptism

After we come to faith in Jesus Christ, we are baptized as a sign of our new identity in Him. Baptism is an outward expression of our inward commitment to follow Jesus Christ.

It is a symbol of our faith in Jesus Christ and our commitment to obey Him. And it is a public declaration that we are part of the body of Christ.

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).

“But now the people believed Philip’s message of Good News concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ. As a result, many men and women were baptized” (Acts 8:12).

“For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives” (Romans 6:4).

Foundation of Your Daily Life: Prayer

Jesus said, “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7). Prayer is one of the most important ways that we connect with God.

Prayer is a way to communicate with Him, and it is also a way to receive His guidance and direction in our lives. The Bible says, “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results” (James 5:16).

Reading the Bible

The Bible is God’s Word to us, and it is an essential part of our spiritual growth. The Bible is packed with wisdom and guidance for living a godly life.

It is also a source of encouragement and hope in difficult times. We should make it a regular habit to read the Bible and allow it to transform our lives.

The Many Types of Prayer

There are many different ways to pray, and what works best for one person may not work best for another. However, there are a few basic types of prayer that are important to know about.

Prayer of Praise: This type of prayer is all about giving thanks to God. We can thank Him for all the good things He has done for us, and we can praise Him for who He is.

Prayer of Petition: This type of prayer is when we ask God for something. We can ask Him for help with a problem we’re facing, or we can ask Him to do something specific in our lives.

Prayer of Intercession: This type of prayer is when we pray for others. We can pray for people who are sick, we can pray for our country, or we can pray for the persecuted church.

Prayer of Surrender: This type of prayer is when we give our lives completely to God. We surrender our will to Him and ask Him to guide us in everything we do.
