The Free Gift God Gives Us All

When Jesus died on the cross, he paid the penalty for our sins. He took our place, and because of his death we are forgiven and saved. We don’t have to work for our salvation – it’s a gift from God, given through faith in Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” This means that we cannot earn or merit our salvation; it’s something that God gives us as a free gift, through faith in Jesus Christ.

When we receive Jesus Christ as our Savior, we are adopted into God’s family. We become children of God!

John 1:12-13 tells us “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”

When we become Christians, we are part of a worldwide family – the family of God. And as members of this family, we have responsibilities to one another.

The Bible tells us that we should love one another, bear one another’s burdens, forgive one another, and encourage one another. (See Galatians 5:13-14; 6:2; Ephesians 4:32; Colossians 3:13.)

In addition, the Bible tells us that it’s important to be connected to a local church. The early Christians met together regularly for worship, teaching, fellowship, and prayer (see Acts 2:42-47; 5:42). And as Christians today, we also need to be connected to a local church.
