When we accept Jesus Christ as our personal savior, we are saved from our sin and given eternal life. Salvation is a free gift from God that we can never earn. It is only by grace that we are saved, through faith in Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9) When we put our trust in Jesus Christ alone for our salvation, He forgives us of our sin and gives us His righteousness. (2 Corinthians 5:21) We are then adopted into God’s family and given the Holy Spirit to dwell within us. (Romans 8:15-17)

Knowing God

When we come to know God, we begin a lifelong journey of growing closer to Him. This relationship is the most important thing in our lives, and it should be our top priority. The Bible tells us that God desires to have a personal relationship with each one of us. (Jeremiah 29:13) As we get to know Him better, we learn to trust Him more and rely on Him for everything in our lives. We also come to understand His character and nature, and we are amazed by all He has done for us.

In addition to knowing God Himself, it is also important to know about His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only way to come to know God. (John 14:6) He is the perfect representation of God’s love and mercy, and He died on the cross so that we could be forgiven and have eternal life. We can come to know Jesus Christ through faith in Him alone. When we do, we receive the gift of salvation and become part of God’s family forever.

We are also surrounded by other believers who can help us grow in discipleship.

The Bible tells us that Jesus is the perfect example for us to follow (1 Peter 2:21). As we learn about Him and strive to imitate Him, we will become more Christ-like over time. This is a process that requires effort on our part, but it is well worth the effort because it leads to a closer relationship with God. When we become like Christ, we reflect His character in a world that desperately needs it.
