For by Grace You Have Been Saved

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9). These are the words Paul wrote to people who were already Christians before he even met them. They had believed in Jesus and trusted Him for their salvation from sin, yet they still needed reminding about what happened “by grace” as opposed to what might be expected if we try to earn our way into Heaven or get there on our own merits. Grace means being saved freely without any merit or effort on our part—we can do nothing to earn it and everything to receive it!

The Gospel of Jesus Christ

The gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins and rose again, offering us forgiveness and eternal life. This is the message that we need to share with others because it is the best news they could ever hear! When we share the gospel, we are telling people about the love of God that has been shown to us in Jesus Christ. We are also inviting them to come into a relationship with God, through faith in Jesus Christ. What a privilege it is to be able to share the gospel with others!

The Importance of Your Prayers

Prayer is important, and it’s something that should never be taken for granted.

It can’t be overstated: prayer is the most powerful thing we do every day. It affects our lives more than just about anything else because in prayer we speak to God Himself. Prayer changes us from within; it makes us stronger spiritually and emotionally, and closer to God. We are transformed by this daily communion with Him!

But all of this would not be possible if Christ had not first prayed for us on the cross (see John 17). Therefore, as Christians we should have a deep desire to pray always – there really is no other way through which anyone will enter Heaven! Prayer connects you with your Savior and brings about spiritual growth. It gives you strength for whatever situation you may be facing, and it is the means by which God speaks to us.

So if you have not yet begun a regular prayer life, or if you have let your prayer life lapse, now is the time to start! If you don’t know how to pray, just talk to God as you would a friend. He knows your heart, and He longs to hear from you.

Your Outward Expression of Faith: Baptism

Baptism is an outward expression of our faith in Jesus Christ. It symbolizes His death and resurrection, and our own new life in Him. When we are baptized, we are identifying ourselves with Christ and His Church. We are also publicly declaring our faith in Jesus Christ, and our intention to follow Him as our Lord and Savior.

If you have not yet been baptized, but would like to be, please talk to your pastor or church leaders about it. They will be happy to help you take this important step of faith!

The Bible – God’s Word to Us

The Bible is the word of God, written down for us by human authors who were inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is the authoritative source of Christian doctrine and practice, and it is our guide for living a godly life.

The Bible is not just a book of stories; it is alive and active, and it has the power to change our lives. As we read it and apply its truths to our lives, we are transformed by the renewing of our minds (see Romans 12:2).

If you have not yet started reading the Bible, now is the time! There are many resources available to help you get started, including Bible study aids, commentaries, and devotionals. Talk to your pastor or church leaders about what would be best for you. They will be happy to point you in the right direction.

The Church – God’s Family

The church is the family of God, made up of all those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ. We are united together in Him, and we are called to love and serve one another.

When we belong to the church, we are connected to each other. We can depend on each other for support and encouragement, and we can also join together in ministry. The church is a place where we can grow in our faith and knowledge of God, and where we can use our gifts and talents to serve Him.

The Fruits You Will Bear

The Bible speaks of the “fruits of the spirit” as evidence of a life that is led by God. These fruits are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. When we have these qualities in our lives, it is a sign that we are walking with God and living according to His will.

The fruit of love is evident when we sacrificially give of ourselves for the benefit of others. We experience joy when we find delight in God’s presence and in His work in our lives. Peace comes when we trust Him to handle every situation no matter how difficult it may be. Patience develops as we wait on Him and allow Him to work in His timing. Kindness and goodness are seen in the way we treat others, and faithfulness is evident when we keep our commitments even when it’s hard. Gentleness is shown when we extend grace to those who have wronged us, and self-control displays itself as we resist temptation and live holy lives.

As we bear these fruits in our lives, it is a testimony to the world that we belong to Jesus Christ. It also brings glory to God and strengthens our own faith.
