Knowing the Trinity of God

The word “trinity” comes from a Latin term meaning “three-in-one,” and it refers to the Christian belief that God is one being who exists as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Churches throughout history have developed different ways of understanding how these three divine Persons relate to each other and to humanity, but all Christians agree on this basic idea.

What we call The Gospel—the message of salvation through Jesus Christ—is based on this understanding of God as Trinity. It’s not complicated; in fact, it would be impossible for so many people over such a long period of time not to believe in something they couldn’t understand if it weren’t true. (1 Corinthians 1:27-29)

Find a Church in Puerto Princesa, Philippines

The Church Is Jesus’ Body The Church, or “the body of Christ,” consists of all those people who have turned away from themselves and committed themselves to follow Jesus. Churches are the human community where Christians are united together to worship Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. Churches are also called “the bride of Christ” because they reflect the perfection of God’s love for his people. Churches are important so that Christians can be together and pray for one another, encourage each other, learn from one another, serve one another, and grow closer to Jesus together. (Ephesians 4:11-13) Churches are also important because they are the place where God’s love is made visible in service to others.

Knowing the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a member of the Trinity and is the third person of the Godhead. He is sometimes called the “Spirit of God,” the “Spirit of Christ,” or the “Holy Spirit.” The Holy Spirit is important because he is the one who helps us to know Jesus Christ and to follow him. He also helps us to understand the Bible and to pray. The Holy Spirit inspires Christians to proclaim the gospel message to others, and he gives them the power to do this.

Learning to Pray

When it comes to prayer, there are as many different ways of doing it as there are people on the planet. But despite the diversity of styles and methods, all prayers share a common goal: to connect with God.

There are no hard-and-fast rules for how to pray; just find what works best for you and go with it. However, there are a few things that can help make your prayers more effective.

First, be sure to pray from the heart. Don’t just recite words without feeling or meaning them. Take time to reflect on who you’re talking to and what you’re asking for.

Second, try not to rush through your prayers. If you can, find a quiet place where you can be alone with God. Prayers that are spoken slowly and carefully tend to hit the heart more than those that are spoken hurriedly.

Finally, remember that prayer is not just for asking for things; it’s also a time to give thanks, praise, and honor to God. Whatever you pray about should emphasize your faith in God as your loving Heavenly Father.

Interceeding for Others

Many of us have heard the term “intercession.” But few understand what it really means.

Intercessors are people who pray for others and ask God to help them in their time of need. Intercession is a Biblical practice that goes back thousands of years when Abraham prayed for his son Isaac (Genesis 22:10-12). We also see this practice in the New Testament, when Jesus’ friends sat at his feet and listened as he taught on spiritual matters (Luke 10:38-42).

The Bible says we should intercede for one another because we’re all members of one body; if someone’s foot hurts they’ll feel it even if they don’t realize it! If you’re not sure how to intercede for someone, find out what their needs are and ask God to fill those needs.

Engaging in Discipleship

God wants us to be his friends. He wants us to know him personally since he is the source of all love and wisdom. But before you can get to know God, you have to learn about him.

God has given us many ways to learn about himself. One way is through the Bible, his holy written Word. There are also other Christian writings that can help you to understand God better. Churches in Puerto Princesa may have study Bibles or helpful books for sale, available at a low cost or sometimes even free of charge.

1. Engage in Discipleship

2. Pray Daily

3. Read the Bible Every Day

Water Baptism

Water baptism is a Christian practice of baptizing people in water, usually as an act of repentance for sins and a pledge to follow Jesus Christ.

In the book of Matthew, we find that John the Baptist baptized people in water as a way of identifying them with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. In so doing, they were being spiritually transformed from their old identities into new ones (Matthew 3:2). As followers of Jesus, we should want to be changed and made into new people.

Baptism is a public proclamation that you have chosen to follow Jesus. It’s a promise between you and God, analogous to the ancient Jewish custom of making vows. Vows were mutual agreements between two people in which one person promised to do something for the other if certain conditions were met.

Vows are common in our culture, too—witness the traditional wedding vows!

Since baptism is a public vow to God, it should be done before other people who can bear witness to your commitment to follow Jesus Christ.
