Holy Spirit: God With Us

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He is an active agent in God’s work and a giver of life.

The term “Holy Spirit” (capitalized) refers to Jesus Christ in His divine nature, while “holy spirit” (lower case) refers only to His power as manifested through humans. The Bible says that the Holy Spirit is with us always and that we can receive Him by asking.

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” (John 14:16-17)

“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:13)
