The Church Is God’s Family
When you become a follower of Jesus Christ, you become part of His family—the church. The church is not a building; it’s made up of people who have received Jesus as their Savior.
The Bible says, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10).
God has a purpose and plan for your life. When you connect with a local church, you connect with others who can help you discover and live out that purpose.

Discipleship Is a Journey
The Christian life is a journey. It’s important to find a church where you can grow in your faith and be discipled by others. A discipleship relationship is one where someone helps you learn about Jesus Christ and follow Him more closely.
The Bible says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).
As you grow in your faith, you will be able to help disciple others. This is how we make more followers of Jesus Christ.
Baptism Is a Public Declaration
When you receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, you may choose to be baptized as a public declaration of your faith. Baptism is an outward symbol of the inward change that has taken place in your life.
The Bible says, “Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:3-4).
Baptism is a way to show others that you have given your life to Jesus Christ. It is also a way to symbolically die to your old life and be raised to new life in Christ.
Prayer Is Talking to God
Prayer is simply talking to God. It’s a way to express your thoughts and feelings to Him. Prayer is also a way for you to listen to God. He will speak to you through His Word, the Bible, and by the Holy Spirit.
The Bible says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6).
When you pray, you can thank God for His blessings, ask Him for help, and tell Him what is on your heart. Prayer is a way to build your relationship with God.
The Bible Is God’s Word
The Bible is God’s Word. It is His love letter to us. In the Bible, we can learn about who God is, what He has done for us, and how we can grow in our relationship with Him.
The Bible says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16).
Reading the Bible is one of the best ways to get to know God better. It is also a great way to find encouragement and direction for your life.
Evangelism Is Sharing the Good News
Evangelism is simply sharing the good news about Jesus Christ with others. It is telling them about how God has forgiven their sins and given them a new start through Jesus Christ.
The Bible says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
As a follower of Jesus Christ, it is your duty to share the good news with others. It may not always be easy, but it is worth it!
Three in One
One of the most important truths about Christianity is that there is one God in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are one, yet each person is distinct. They are coequal, coeternal, and consubstantial.
The Father is the one who created all things. He is also the one who sent Jesus Christ to earth to be our Savior. The Son is Jesus Christ Himself. He died on the cross to pay for our sins and rose from the dead. The Holy Spirit is a person of the Trinity who comes to live in believers once they receive Jesus Christ as their Savior.
These three persons are all equally important and deserve our worship and praise. We need to know all three in order to understand the Christian faithfully.
Christianity is not a religion; it’s a relationship with God that begins when we put our trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior.
