Knowing The Father Through The Son

Jesus Christ is the only way to know God. John 14:6 says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus is our perfect example of how to live. He always did what was right, even when it was difficult. Hebrews 4:15 says, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.” We can go to Jesus for help when we need it because he understands what we’re going through.

The Church

The church is where we come together to worship God. We learn about Him and how to follow Him from the Bible. It’s also a place where we can find support from other believers. In Hebrews 10:25, it says, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Following Him

When we become followers of Jesus Christ, we are called disciples. A disciple is someone who follows Jesus Christ closely. We learn from Him and obey Him. In John 8:31, Jesus says, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.”

There are some steps we can take to follow Jesus Christ closely:

1. Believe in Him. In John 3:16, it says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” We need to trust that Jesus is who He says He is and that He died on the cross for our sins.

2. Read the Bible. The Bible is God’s Word and it tells us about Him and His plan for us. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, it says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

3. Pray. Prayer is talking to God. We can pray about anything and everything. In Philippians 4:6-7, it says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

4. Find a church home. The church is where we come together to worship God and learn about Him. In Hebrews 10:25, it says, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

5. Be baptized. When we become followers of Jesus Christ, we are baptized in water to show that we belong to Him. In Acts 2:38, it says, “Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’”

6. Share your faith. We should share our faith with others because Jesus died for them too. In 1 Peter 3:15, it says, “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to justify the hope that is in you.”

7. Obey Jesus Christ. We should obey Jesus Christ because He knows what is best for us. In John 14:15, it says, “If you love me, you will obey what I command.”

8. Follow Jesus Christ closely. We should follow Jesus Christ closely because He is our example. In John 8:31, it says, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.”

Choosing To Get Baptized

When we become followers of Jesus Christ, we are baptized in water to show that we belong to Him. In Acts 2:38, it says, “Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’”

Baptism is an important step because it shows that we are committed to following Jesus Christ. It also marks the beginning of our journey as a disciple. When we are baptized, we are saying that we want to obey Jesus Christ and follow Him closely.

It’s important to remember that baptism is not a requirement for salvation. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by our works (Ephesians 2:8-9). However, baptism is an outward symbol of our faith and it shows that we are committed to following Jesus Christ.
