Who is God?

WThe Trinity is the Christian concept of God as three persons who are one being, or essence. The doctrine states that the Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit are equal in power and eternity, but distinct in their personhood. This means that while all three members of the Trinity possess unity in their divinity and equality in their godhood, they are also three individual beings.

The Father is not the Son, and the Son is not the Holy Spirit – they are all three Gods. But they are not simply three gods, they are one God. This doctrine has been central to Christian theology since its development in the fourth century AD.

There are many Bible verses that speak to the Trinity, but perhaps the most famous is John 10:30, where Jesus says, “I and my Father are one.”

Jesus is the Son of God who was born of a virgin, Mary. He is the Messiah, or Savior, who was promised to come from the Old Testament. Jesus is also the only way to know God – through Him, we can have a relationship with the Father. John 14:6 says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

What is the Church?

The Church is the body of Christ, which is made up of all believers in Jesus Christ. The Bible speaks of the Church as both local (the church in a certain town or city) and universal (the church worldwide) – both are important.

The local church is where believers come together to worship God, learn about Him, and serve Him. It is also a place of fellowship and support, where believers can build relationships with one another. The universal Church is made up of all believers across the globe and is connected through relationships with local churches.

Fellowship in the Church

Churches can be a place where you find community, connection, and support. Churches are not just houses of worship – they’re communities. Churches provide people with fellowship, prayer partners (to help them pray), accountability to each other in their walk with Jesus Christ, and encouragement when it feels like everything is falling apart… Churches can become an important part of your life, and it’s important to be connected to one.

Celebrating New Life in Christ: Baptism

When a person is baptized, they are symbolically washed clean of their sins and invited into the family of God. It is an important celebration and a time of joy for the entire church community.

Baptism is a public declaration that you are a follower of Jesus Christ. It is also an act of obedience, as Jesus instructed us to be baptized (Matthew 28:19).

If you would like to be baptized, speak to your pastor or another leader in your church. Baptism can take place as part of a worship service, or at a separate baptismal service.

How to Pray

Prayer is simply talking with God. It can be done anytime, anywhere, and doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated. You can pray out loud or silently in your mind.

The Bible tells us that we should pray continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17). This means that prayer should be a regular part of our lives – not just something we do when we need something or when we’re in trouble.

Prayer is a way to connect with God, to tell Him our thoughts and feelings, and to listen to what He has to say to us.

Reading the Bible

The Bible is the Word of God. It is important for believers to read it regularly, as it contains instructions for how we should live our lives, as well as spiritual guidance and encouragement.

The Bible is divided into two parts – the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament tells the story of Israel, from their beginning to their exile. The New Testament tells the story of Jesus Christ, His ministry, death, and resurrection.

Reading the Bible can seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are a few tips to help you get started:

1. Find a Bible that’s comfortable for you. There are many different translations of the Bible, so find one that you like and that is easy for you to read.

2. Start with the Gospels (the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). The Gospels tell the story of Jesus Christ and are a good place to start reading the Bible.

3. Read a chapter or two each day. This will help you to gradually read through the Bible.

4. Find a Bible study group or online community that can help you to study the Bible.

5. Ask God to help you understand what you’re reading. The Holy Spirit will guide you and give you understanding as you read Scripture.

The Great Commission

The Bible speaks of the Great Commission, which is a mandate from Jesus Christ for believers to go out and make disciples of all nations.

The Great Commission is not just for missionaries or pastors – it’s for every believer. We are all called to share the gospel with others and to disciple them in their faith.

This can be done in many ways, such as through personal relationships, small groups, or one-on-one discipleship.

Discipleship: Follow the Leader

Discipleship is the process of learning about Jesus Christ and following Him. It is a relationship in which both the disciple and the discipler learn from each other. The goal of discipleship is to help people grow in their faith and become more like Jesus Christ.

There are many different ways to disciple someone. Some disciplers prefer to meet with their disciples regularly, while others take a more hands-off approach. Some disciplers use Bible studies or other materials, while others simply talk and pray with their disciples.

The important thing is that the disciple feels loved and supported by the discipler and that both parties are growing in their knowledge and love for Jesus Christ.

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” -Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)
