The Good, Good Gospel!
The Gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins and rose again on the third day so that we could be saved. Because of the finished work of the cross of Christ we now have full access to God the Father. It’s the message that God loves us and sent his one and only Son to die for us so that we could be forgiven and have eternal life.
We all sin and God is perfect. Because of our sins, we can’t go to heaven unless someone pays the price for us. Since no one could pay that price but God himself, he sent his son Jesus to die on the cross in our place.
Before Jesus came the law was the way that God showed us how to live our lives. He told us how we should pray, what we should do and not do, and where we should worship. But because of sin, no one could keep all these laws perfectly so everyone fell short in their relationship with God.
When Jesus came, he gave a new law that all people could keep. It was the law of love – to love God with your whole heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself.
Those who believe in Jesus are saved from their sins, made right with God, and become children of God through his grace. All of this happens through what is called “the new birth”.
It’s not enough to believe in Jesus. We also need to obey his commands (which are found in the Bible). This is called discipling and it’s all about becoming more like him, both in our actions and our character.

However, the Church is also made up of sinful people who sometimes get in the way of what God wants it to be. Churches often make mistakes because our knowledge about God isn’t perfect. The Church does not exist for itself but exists to serve others. A New Life with God
We become Christians not by ourselves but through God’s grace – his undeserved gift of love. When we place our trust in Jesus and turn away from living our own lives for ourselves, God makes us his children and gives us a new life.
We do not become perfect people through baptism, nor does our participation in the church make us more holy – but the Holy Spirit of God begins to live inside of us and changes how we think and act. This is what it means to be saved – to experience God’s love and forgiveness, the new birth, and becoming his children.
Talking to God Through Prayer
Prayer is a way to talk with God. It’s communicating your thoughts, feelings, and desires to him. Prayer can be done by yourself or in a group of people who want the same thing. You can pray anywhere – at home, work, school, or even on the street!
Prayer is an important part of worshiping God and bringing glory to him. The Bible tells us that “the Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand” (Psalm 14:2). In other words, God wants us all to pray for his help and guidance every day because he cares about each one of us individually!
Here are some common ways Christians pray:
– Thanking God for his love and care towards us, asking him what we should do next, or giving thanks for the things he has given to us.
– Praying to ask God to help a friend who is sick, sad, lonely, etc. – asking God why something bad has happened in our lives – asking for forgiveness when we have done something wrong – asking God to take away our worries and fears – praying so that others will come to know Jesus
– Praying for people who are sick or praying with other Christians so that they can be closer to God.
Prayers should always show our love and respect for God.
Baptism: Alive in Christ, Dead to Sin
Baptism is a Christian ceremony that marks the beginning of a new life in Christ.
The word “baptize” means to submerge someone completely, so baptism is not just water being poured over one’s head. Baptism also includes an act of identification with Christ and his death, burial, and resurrection – dying to our old way of living (our “old man”) and coming alive in Jesus. The Bible says: “Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death” (Romans 6:3). Baptism is both a gift from God as well as a commandment for Christians – it is God’s command for you to be baptized.
The Holy Spirit Comes to Live Inside Us
You don’t need to wait until someone does something special—like getting baptized or joining a church—to receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit comes to live inside anyone who asks Jesus into their heart and lives in accordance with Jesus’ teachings by obeying God’s commandments.
A person who has truly asked Jesus into their lives will show that they’ve received the Holy Spirit by doing good deeds and helping others as a natural result of this new friendship with Christ.
