We’re all sinful people who need to repent of our sins; we need the blood of Jesus Christ to cleanse us from all unrighteousness or sin (1 John 1:8). To become disciples of Jesus we must turn away from our old lifestyle–give up bad habits like drinking too much alcohol or swearing–and start doing things that will lead us closer to God.

It also means being willing to serve others. Jesus said that the greatest among us is the one who serves (Mark 10:45). When we follow Jesus, we put other people’s needs above our own. We become more concerned with their spiritual well-being than our own comfort. We look for ways to help them grow in their faith and come to know Christ more deeply.

If you want to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, it’s not going to be easy. But it will be worth it! Following Him will give your life purpose and meaning. It will change the way you see the world and the people around you.
