Knowing Jesus
Jesus is the Son of God, who died on the cross to take away our sins. He rose from the dead and now sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven. Jesus is the only way to know God, and through Him, we can be saved from our sins and spend eternity with God. Anyone can come to know Jesus by reading the Bible, praying a prayer of faith in Him, and inviting others to do the same.

The Holy Spirit: The Spirit of God
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity. The Holy Spirit is a spiritual being, who lives inside of Christians and gives them the power for living sacrificially for Jesus. He helps us understand God’s word, guides us in our thoughts and decisions, comforts us in times of trouble, and even works miracles when we ask him to.
According to John 14:26 (ESV), “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things.” This means that as Christians we have direct access to this supernatural helper whenever we need it!
The Way to Pray
When most people think of prayer, they think of asking God for things – like health, wealth, and happiness. But prayer is so much more than just a way to make requests! Prayer is communication with God, and it can be in many different forms.
The Bible tells us that we should pray continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17), which means that prayer should be a regular part of our lives. We can talk to God about anything – our joys, our sorrows, our fears, and even our frustrations.
There are also specific types of prayers that we can pray depending on what we need or want. Here are a few examples:
– Praise prayers: These are prayers of thanksgiving and adoration for all that God has done.
– Confession prayers: When we sin against God, it’s important to ask forgiveness so we can return to the right relationship with Him. This is where confession prayer comes in! In these types of prayers, we admit our sins and ask Jesus to forgive us.
– Intercession prayers: In this type of prayer, we ask God to help someone who might be struggling or going through a tough time.
– Petition prayers: Also known as requests, these are when we ask God for the things that we need and want.
Jesus wants us to talk with Him about everything and also allow Him to guide us in our decisions. Prayer is an important part of growing closer to God and finding His will for our lives!
Baptism in Christ
The Bible says in Romans 6:1-5 (NLT) that “our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.”
This means that as followers of Jesus, our old sinful selves (the self that used to do whatever it wanted without thinking about how it would affect others or ourselves) died and are now dead with Jesus. Therefore, our sinful desires are no longer in charge of us! We are now able to live for God – not ourselves – which is what God wants for all of us.
Being a Disciple of Jesus
As a disciple of the Lord, you are called to learn more about Him and to grow in your relationship with Him. This means spending time reading the Bible, praying, and worshipping Him. It also means being baptized in water as a symbol of your faith in Jesus Christ, and pledging to follow Him no matter what.
It’s important to remember that being a disciple is not easy – it requires dedication and willingness to put God first in your life. But it’s also an incredibly rewarding journey that leads to a closer relationship with our Heavenly Father. If you’re ready to become a disciple of the Lord, pray and ask Him to show you the next steps. He will definitely guide you on the right path!
Below are some Bible verses about discipleship – the process of learning more about Jesus Christ and growing in our relationship with Him. May they encourage and strengthen you as you walk with Jesus!
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 1:8 (NIV)
This verse speaks to the importance of being a witness for Jesus Christ. As disciples, we are called to share the gospel with others and show them His love.
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20 (NIV)
This verse shows how closely connected we are with Jesus. And when our old selves died with Him on the cross, it means that we are no longer bound by sin’s control over us! We have the power to resist temptation because our old sinful selves have died with Him.
“We love each other as a result of his loving us first.” – 1 John 4:19 (NIV)
Because God loved us first by sending Jesus to die for us, it’s important for us to also love others. This is the essence of being a disciple – sharing His love with all those around us.
“I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.” – John 17:14 (NIV)
The verse above shows that we need to be separated from this-worldly and sinful culture. This is because, as disciples of Jesus, we are called to live differently than the world: in humility and full of love for all people.
