Receiving The Free Gift of Salvation

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you; it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8). This verse is about the gift of salvation that we don’t deserve and are not capable of earning, but which Christ has given to us freely.

The verses go on to say that because of this saving faith, “we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 2:14) This means that when we put our trust in Him as Savior, He takes away all the guilt and shame from sin and replaces it with His perfect righteousness – living within us now!

This makes sense if you think about what Jesus did on the Cross. He took upon Himself all the consequences for sin so we could be free from them. He then offers us His gift of salvation and forgiveness if we accept it.

So, how do we receive this wonderful gift of salvation? We must repent (turn from our sin), have faith in Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, and confess Him as Lord. (Romans 10:9-10)

When we put our trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, the Bible tells us that we are born again – “born of the Spirit” (John 3:3-8). This new birth is a spiritual birth into God’s family. As children of God, we are loved with everlasting love, and He has great plans for us! (Jeremiah 29:11)

You’re Saved! What’s Next?

Now that you have received this free gift of salvation, what’s next?

The Bible tells us that we are to grow in our relationship with God. This is done by regular reading and study of His Word, the Bible; prayer; fellowship with other Christians; and obedience to His commands. (2 Timothy 2:15)

As we grow in our relationship with God, we will also begin to see a change in our own lives. We will become more like Christ as He transforms us into His image. (2 Corinthians 3:18)

Becoming a Part of The Church

One of the most important things you can do after receiving Christ as your Savior is to find a good Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith and serve God alongside other Christians. The Church is not a building – it is the people who have received Christ as Savior. As the Body of Christ, we are to love and care for one another, encourage one another, and help each other grow in our faith. (Hebrews 10:24-25) Find a church near Lamitan, Philippines today!

The Word of God To Us

It is important to read and know the Bible because it is the word of God. The Bible is His story of how He has interacted with humanity throughout history. It is a guidebook for living a godly life. When we read and obey the scriptures, we are transformed into Christ’s image.

How to Read The Bible

The Bible is not just a book, but rather it is the Word of God. When we read and obey the scriptures, we are transformed into Christ’s image. In order to read and obey the scriptures, however, we must first understand them.

The following tips will help you to better understand the Bible:

1) Read the Bible in its entirety. The Bible is not a collection of random stories – it tells one overarching story from beginning to end.

2) Interpret scripture with scripture. In order to understand what a particular verse means, we must compare it with other verses on the same topic.

3) Context is key. We must always consider the context of a verse in order to properly interpret it. The context includes the time period in which the book was written, the culture of the people at that time, and the author’s intention.

4) Prayerfully ask for understanding. We cannot understand the Bible on our own – we need the help of the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 2:14)

5) Don’t be afraid to ask questions. If you don’t understand something, ask a pastor or another Christian friend for help.

Once we have read and studied the Bible, we are then able to obey it. The Bible is our guidebook for living a godly life. As we read and obey its commands, we are transformed into Christ’s image. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

What is Evangelism?

Evangelism is simply sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with others. It is our responsibility as Christians to tell others about the hope we have in Christ. (1 Peter 3:15)

There are many ways to share the gospel, but one of the most effective is through personal testimony. A personal testimony is a story of how Christ has changed your life. When you share your testimony, you are sharing the gospel in a way that is relatable and personal.

Getting To Know God Through Prayer

One of the best ways to get to know God is through prayer. When we pray, we communicate with Him on a personal level. We can ask Him for guidance, wisdom, and strength as we navigate our lives. Prayer is also a way to thank Him for all He has done for us. (Philippians 4:6-7)

God always listens to our prayers and He desires to have a relationship with us. (1 John 5:14) When we pray, we are opening our hearts to Him and inviting Him into our lives. Prayer is one of the most important ways we can grow closer to God.

Water Baptism

Baptism is an act of obedience that symbolizes our faith in Christ. It is a public declaration of our decision to follow Jesus. Baptism does not save us from our sin, but it is a testimony of our faith in Christ. (Acts 2:38)

If you have never been baptized and would like to take this step of obedience, please talk to one of the pastors. We would be more than happy to help you get started!
