The Way is Jesus
It’s important to remember that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the only way to know God and to have eternal life. John 14:6 says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” If you want to know God and have a relationship with Him, you must come through Jesus Christ. There is no other way. Through Jesus Christ is forgiveness for our sins. When we repent and ask Him to forgive us, He does! 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” God wants us to be forgiven and cleansed from our sins. He loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins. When we trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior, we are forgiven and have a new beginning in life.

Praying the Bible
Prayer is a powerful tool that we can use to communicate with God. It’s also a way for us to grow closer to Him and build intimacy with Him. As we pray, we should ask God to help us grow closer to Him, give us strength in times of trial, and protect us from harm. We should also pray for our family, friends, and church. And we should pray for those who don’t know Jesus Christ, that they would open their hearts and minds to the gospel.
One way to ensure that we are praying effectively is to pray the Bible. When we pray using scripture, we are using God’s Word as our guide for prayer. We are asking God to do what He has already said He will do. And as we pray the promises of Scripture, we can be confident that we are praying according to God’s will.
If you’re not sure where to start, here are some verses you can use when praying:
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 4:6-7
“But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” -Matthew 6:6
“And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” -Luke 11:9-10
Following Jesus
Becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ takes time and effort. It’s a process that includes learning about who Jesus is, growing in spiritual maturity, serving others, sharing our faith with others, and building relationships with other Christians. But it’s so worth it! As we grow closer to Jesus Christ, we experience His love and grace in new and deeper ways. We also find strength and hope for the journey ahead. So if you’re ready to take the next step in your faith journey, we encourage you to start discipleship today!
What is discipleship? Discipleship is the process of growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ. It involves learning about His life and teachings, and understanding who He is.
As we grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ, we also grow in our ability to follow Him. We start to think like Him, act like Him, and desire to please Him in all we do. Discipleship is not a solo journey; it’s meant to be done in community with other Christians. As you walk alongside other believers, you’ll deepen your faith and grow together in Christ.
Baptism: New Life
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward decision to follow Jesus Christ. When we are baptized, we are publicly declaring our faith in Jesus Christ and our commitment to living for Him. Baptism is also a symbol of our new life in Christ. Just as Jesus died and was raised from the dead, we die from our old life of sin and self-centeredness, and we are raised to new life in Christ. The Bible speaks a great deal about baptism. Here are two verses that describe what baptism represents:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” -Matthew 28:19-20
“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” -Romans 6:4
If you’ve never been baptized, and you’re ready to take this important step in your faith journey, we encourage you to talk to one of the churches in Isangel about getting baptized.
