Connecting With God Through Prayer

The Trinity: God, Three in One

The Trinity is the teaching that God exists as three co-equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The word “trinity” comes from Latin meaning a set or group consisting of three items. The doctrine teaches that these three are equal in power and glory, yet each has distinct personal attributes including different roles within the Godhead (i.e., Father as creator; Son as redeemer; Holy Spirit as sanctifier). Hence it is important to note that while there are at least 3 members of this divine being they all share one power – omnipresence.

The Father:

The Father is the first person of the Trinity. He is the creator of the universe and everything in it. He is also responsible for sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins.

The Son:

The Son is the second person of the Trinity. He is Jesus Christ, who was born of a woman, Mary, and was fully God and full man. He died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead.

The Holy Spirit:

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He is a helper and teacher who guides us into all truth. He also comforts us when we are going through difficult times.

Hearing God’s Voice

When we pray, we are talking to the one who created the universe! God is always with us and He loves us. One of the best ways to hear from Him is through prayer. When we pray, we can talk to Him about anything that is on our minds.

Hearing from God can be a very challenging thing. It takes time and patience to learn how to discern His voice from all of the other voices that are constantly clamoring for our attention. But it is worth it!

There are many different ways that God speaks to us. He may speak to us through His Word, or through a song that touches our heart, or even through a friend or family member who has been entrusted with sharing God’s love.

The most important thing is to be open to hearing from God and to be willing to obey whatever He may say. When we make a commitment to follow Jesus, we are making a commitment to let Him be the Lord of our lives. And that includes following Him wherever He may lead us.
