Christianity: Following Christ Jesus
How do you know if someone is a Christian? What does it mean to be a Christian?
These are important questions for anyone who wants to find out more about the faith, but they’re even more important for those who want to become Christians.
It’s not enough just to believe in God or Jesus without understanding what that means. But Christianity isn’t just one person believing in God; it’s a group of people following Him together. And it has particular beliefs and practices which distinguish it from other religions. The word “Christian” comes from the Greek word “Christos,” which means “the Anointed One.” That refers both to Jesus Christ Himself and His followers who have been anointed by the Holy Spirit to do God’s work.

What Does a Church Do?
Churches serve members of their community and anyone else who attends. Most of them have a variety of different ministry programs, including children, youth, single adults/college students, young marrieds, older adults, and retirees. Churches have Sunday schools, Bible studies, and prayer meetings for members to gather together with other followers of Jesus Christ.
Churches provide fellowship opportunities where people come together to share life experiences, work through hardships or simply enjoy each other’s company.
They also minister to those who are lost or hurting through various outreach programs such as food distribution, relief efforts during natural disasters, and other forms of ministry to those in need. Churches provide opportunities for Christians to serve and lead as deacons, teachers, and church elders (1 Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-9).

The Trinity of God
The Trinity is one of the most important and mysterious doctrines of Christianity.
It’s also one of the most misunderstood, partly because it’s so complex and partly because some people try to use it to support their own personal views which have nothing to do with what the Bible actually says.
But despite its complexity, the doctrine of the Trinity is really quite simple when you understand it correctly.
The doctrine simply means that there are three distinct Persons in one God. It’s always been this way since the beginning of time, which is something people could easily understand when everyone lived near the earth and communicated face-to-face.
The Holy Spirit of God
The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Trinity, God’s presence with us. It’s also known as the Paraclete, which means “the Comforter.” Jesus promised that when He left, He would send this other member of the Trinity to be His representative on earth.
The Holy Spirit isn’t a being or an angel who could be seen by human eyes – it is God Himself present among His people to guide and lead them. But since our minds can only comprehend so much about what God does, many Christians have come up with different ways of describing how they understand Him to work through us.
Prayer
Prayer is a way to speak with God and an opportunity for us to show our love for Him. Prayer isn’t something we do in order to change His mind about what’s going on or get Him to answer our request in the way that we want. It’s much more than that!
Prayer is talking with God from our hearts–sharing honestly and openly without worrying how it will sound or whether He’ll respond in the ways we planned. We can pray anytime, anywhere, but the most important time of prayer is when you’re alone with God – praying your heart out in a private place where no one else can hear you.
God wants people who would rather talk together than have a relationship based on words from a distance. It’s true that Jesus knows our hearts, but He also wants to hear us talk to Him with our own voices.
Bible Reading and Prayer
Prayer unlocks the treasures of God’s heart. In prayer, we find new joy, peace, and fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a place of safety, protection, and blessing.
The Bible is God’s love letter to you! The Bible isn’t a book of rules or an instruction manual about how to run your life. It’s not simply good advice for living well either–it’s much more than that! The Bible can be difficult to understand at times, but it also contains the words of life — words that have the power to change our lives if we let them.
Evangelism
The practice of sharing about Jesus Christ with others, especially by talking to people who don’t know Him yet. The Body of Christ is so excited when someone comes to Christ for the very first time, but they also understand that it doesn’t happen automatically. Churches want anyone who wants to talk about Jesus and His love for us to feel comfortable coming alongside them and walking with them as they grow in their faith.
Jesus Christ
Our entire Christian life is built on this one fact: Jesus Christ came into the world, lived a perfect life without sin, died on the cross for the sin of the world, and rose to life again! He did this because God loves you so much that He gave His only Son for you. Jesus is God’s way of putting us back in the right relationship with Himself.
Discipleship
Disciples are students who are willing to follow their Teacher wherever He goes–learning all they can about Him and His ways. Churches want to welcome disciples into their communities just like they welcome anyone else, but that doesn’t mean that each disciple has it all figured out yet.
Jesus Christ Is the Son of God! He loves you so much that He willingly gave everything–including His very life–to save you from your sins. This is the most important thing for anyone to know. Churches appreciate that everyone comes from a different background and has their own story, but they also believe that everyone needs to hear about Jesus’ love for them. Churches want people who have been saved by Jesus to get connected with one of their churches–the Body of Christ is an amazing family!
