Jesus Christ

The person known as Jesus is actually two entities: Jesus of Nazareth, a man born on Earth & the eternal God in Heaven. In His humanity, He walked among us, performed miracles, died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. Churches believe Jesus is the only way to God, so they try to follow His example & teachings in their Churches.

Jesus came to earth fully man and fully God. He is the Word who became flesh (John 1:1-5, 14). He was conceived by the Holy Spirit in the virgin Mary’s womb (Luke 1:35). Jesus is totally divine yet never ceased being fully God while on earth. Jesus lives today as the Son of God in Heaven. He was born into our world to give us eternal life so that we might have fellowship with God the Father and also one another (John 7:16-17). Jesus is the Savior—to trust in Him as such is to be saved from spending eternity apart from God.

The Bible: The Living Word of God

God used different people through the centuries to write the 66 books of the Bible, often inspired by God Himself (see 2 Timothy 3:16). The Bible teaches us how we can have a relationship with God, how to live according to His will for our lives, and how to serve Him. The Bible is inspired by God so they try to follow its teaching in their Churches.

The first 5 books of the Bible are known as the Torah (or Pentateuch) and they tell us about God’s creation of the world, Adam & Eve, their sin in Eden which brought about God’s judgment against sin in the form of death, and how God promised a Savior.

The next 8 books are known as the Prophets and detail Israel’s history up until when Jesus lived on earth. Around 1000 B.C., prophets began to write through whom God gave messages about how Israel was to live in relationship with Him—but instead, the people began worshipping other gods.

Then around 400 B.C., God-inspired Jewish men to write down accounts of Israel’s history as well as prophecies of this coming Savior and what He would do. These books are known as the Writings (or wisdom literature). The last 12 books are simply called the Writings (or history) and they continue where the Prophets left off, recording Israel’s story as well as (the fall of Jerusalem &) God’s people being taken captive by invaders.

The final 19 books tell us about Jesus’ birth, ministry, death, resurrection, and ascension—and they call us to respond in faith, repentance, and following Jesus in life.

How to Read the Bible

As you can see, the Bible is a big book, and it can be intimidating to try to read it. But the good news is that you don’t have to read it all at once! Here are some tips on how to read the Bible:

1. Find a good Bible commentary or study guide. This will help you to understand what you’re reading and make sense of it all.

2. Start with the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John). These books tell the story of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. They are an excellent place to start because they are easy to read and understand.

3. Read the Bible regularly. This will help you to grow in your understanding of it over time.

Baptism in Water

Jesus commanded His followers to repent of their sins & be baptized in water so that they could receive forgiveness for them (Acts 2:38). Baptism is a visible representation of what Jesus did when He was baptized in the River Jordan by John. When someone is baptized, they are united with Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection—and they are reborn into a new life (Romans 6:3-5; Colossians 2:12).

Prayer and How to Pray

God designed us to live in a relationship with Him & one another (Matthew 6:9). Churches offer regular times for people to pray—alone, with their Churches family, or even with other Churches.

There is no one right way to pray, but here are some tips on how to pray effectively:

1. Pray from your heart.

2. Talk to God as you would talk to a friend.

3. Be honest with God, and tell Him what’s on your mind.

4. Include thanksgiving in your prayers, and give glory to God for all He has done.

5. Ask God for help in specific areas of your life.

6. Be persistent in prayer, and don’t give up if God doesn’t answer right away.

7. Pray in Jesus’ name. This means you are asking for what He wants, not necessarily what you want (John 14:13-14).

Worship

There is no one right way to worship God, but Churches have certain things in common when they worship Him. Worship is all about giving glory to God for who He is and what He has done. Churches usually sing songs of praise to Him, read the Bible, pray, and give offerings.

God desires for us to worship Him in spirit and truth (John 4:23-24), so it’s important that we come to Him with a humble heart and open mind. We should also be prepared to listen to what He has to say to us and respond accordingly. Churches in Firozabad help us do this by encouraging us to come together, participate in the service, and be silent when it’s time for prayer or preaching.

You can experience God’s presence during Churches’ worship services by seeking Him with your heart & mind. Churches are also communities of believers who are committed to praying for one another and studying God’s word together.
