We are called to discipleship – to follow Jesus and to make disciples who follow Him. We are also called to be connected to a local church – to be a part of a community of believers who support one another, encourage one another, and help one another grow in our faith. Jesus, Our Savior
The Bible says that “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). This verse shows us how much God loves His people – He sent Jesus to save us. We cannot save ourselves. We cannot pay for our sin debt or purchase our way into Heaven. Jesus paid it all, once and for all, – and God invites us to come and receive the gift of eternal life by placing our faith in Him as Savior and Lord.

Faith: What It Is & How to Have It
After receiving Christ, the Bible says that people are a “new creation in Christ Jesus” (2 Corinthians 5:17). God desires for us to be connected with other believers so that we can encourage one another and help one another grow in our faith. The Bible says, “Therefore, brothers and sisters, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall” (2 Peter 1:10). We are to be faithful, not only in who we are as born-again believers but also in living out our faith together with other believers. Churches throughout Chennai provide fellowship opportunities and support for the local body of Christ!
Baptism – What It Is & Why We Do It
In the Bible, there are many accounts of people being baptized. Baptism is an outward symbol showing our inward faith in Christ – a way for us to say “yes” to what Jesus has done for us and “no” to our old self. We do not have to be perfect or have it all together before we decide to follow Jesus, but we can take our first step of faith to follow Him by being baptized. Churches in Chennai provide an opportunity for repentance and baptism – allowing someone who has not previously been baptized the chance to be immersed in water as a symbol of their new life in Christ. Churches also provide opportunities for those who have already been baptized to reaffirm their faithfulness to Christ.
Prayer – How to Do It
The Bible says that we should pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Prayer is communication with God. Churches provide an opportunity for fellowship and prayer. Churches also provide opportunities for believers to come together to lift one another to God through prayer. Churches in Chennai provide an opportunity to pray and be prayed for (and with) other believers!
The Word of God: The Bible
The Bible is the Word of God. It is a collection of 66 books that were written by many different authors over about 1,500 years. The Bible is unique because it is the only book that has been inspired by God Himself.
The Bible was written to be read and studied – not just memorized or preached from. To understand and get the most out of the Bible, we need to read it with understanding (2 Timothy 2:15). This means taking time to read and study each passage, looking at the context in which it was written, and asking God to help us understand what He is saying.
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity and is referred to as “the Comforter” (John 14:26), “the Spirit of Truth” (John 15:26), and “The Counselor” (Isaiah 11:2).
He has many different roles in God’s plan for salvation. He convicts people of sin and draws them to repentance. He gives spiritual gifts to believers so they can be used for ministry. He helps us live a holy life by leading, guiding, instructing, teaching, persuading, and empowering Christians to speak with power. The Bible says that without Him we cannot please God or experience His fullness – but through Him, we are never alone!
God the Father
God the Father is the one who created everything and is in control of all things. He is a loving father who desires for us to have a relationship with Him. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Jesus said, “I am going to the Father” (John 16:5), and “No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
What does this mean for us? It means that we can come to God through Jesus Christ. We don’t have to be perfect or have it all together – Jesus died on the cross for us, was buried, and rose again. All we have to do is believe that He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again.
Worshiping Our God
Worship is an important part of Christianity. It is the act of ascribing worth to God. We believe that He is worthy of all honor, glory, and praise.
Worship can be expressed in many different ways – through song, dance, prayer, meditation, etc.
One important thing to note about worship is that it should always be directed towards God. We should not worship anyone or anything else but Him.
When we worship God, we are declaring that He is the Highest and Mighty King over all the earth. We are also acknowledging that we are sinners and need Him to save us.
Worship is a way for us to express our love for Him and to thank Him for all that He has done for us. Churches in Chennai offer many opportunities for Christians to come together and worship God!
