The Church

The Church is a community of believers who come together to worship God. The Church is not a building, but the people who meet together in obedience to Jesus Christ. The Church is the body of Christ on earth, and as such, it is made up of all believers everywhere.

Learning to Pray

When we pray, we are talking to God. We can talk to Him about anything – our joys, our fears, our needs, etc. Prayer is a way to connect with God and to share our lives with Him.

Prayer is also a way to receive His guidance and direction in our lives. When we pray, we can ask God for specific things, and He will often answer us in ways that we do not expect.

The best way to learn how to pray is by reading the Bible. The Bible contains many examples of people who prayed, and it can teach us a lot about how to pray effectively.

There are many different types of prayer that you can pray depending on what you want or need at the time. Here are three of the most common types of prayer:

1) Petitionary Prayer: This type of prayer is when you ask God for something specific. You might petition Him for help with a problem guidance, etc. Petitionary prayer is very effective because it increases our faith by showing us that God listens to us and hears what we have to say.

2) Thanksgiving Prayer: This type of prayer is when you thank God for the many blessings He has given you throughout the day. It’s a great way to start your day off on the right foot and to focus on God’s faithfulness even when we don’t understand what He is doing in our lives.

3) Intercessory Prayer: This type of prayer is different from petitionary prayer because you are not asking for something specific. Instead, you pray that God will do great things in and through you and others.

If you are ready to start praying, just grab a Bible and begin reading! As you read the Bible, look for passages that talk about how God’s people communicate with Him. Some of my favorite places to find prayers in the Bible are Psalms 23-24, Luke 11:1-13, John 17, Philippians 4:6-7, etc.

Evangelism

Evangelism is the act of sharing Jesus with other people. There are many different ways to evangelize – you can share your faith through words or through acts of service to others in need. Evangelizing is an essential part of our role as Christ’s disciples here on earth, and we should never be afraid to share our faith with others.

As we learn more about the Lord and as we grow closer to Him, He will often give us opportunities to tell other people about Him as well. Sharing your faith is not always easy, but it can be done in many different ways: you can write letters, call friends on the phone, email people, post about your faith on social media, etc.

However you decide to evangelize, don’t be afraid to take the first step! When we take the first step and share our faith with others, we can rest assured that God will be with us every step of the way.

It’s important to remember that evangelism is not just something we should do occasionally, but it’s a lifestyle that all Christ-followers are called to. We should be sharing our faith with others throughout each day by the words we say and the examples of lives that we live.

Developing Spiritual Disciplines

Developing spiritual disciplines is one of the best ways to grow in your faith. When you develop spiritual disciplines, you are committing yourself to a regular routine of Bible reading, prayer, and fasting.

Fasting is an especially important spiritual discipline because it allows us to focus more on God and less on the things of this world. Fasting helps us to put our trust in God rather than in the things that we can see.

Bible reading is another important spiritual discipline because it allows us to learn more about who God is and what He desires for our lives. As we read the Bible, we begin to understand His character and how He wants us to live.

Prayer is also essential because it allows us to communicate directly with God. When we pray, we share our thoughts and feelings with God and ask for His guidance in our lives.

The best way to develop spiritual disciplines is by committing ourselves to a regular routine of Bible reading, prayer, and fasting – so let’s get started today!

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a person, the third member of the Trinity. The Christian New Testament refers to him as “the Lord, the giver of life” (2 Cor 3:6). He is called by many names in Scripture such as Comforter, Counselor, and Advocate.

The Holy Spirit’s ministry on earth includes convicting sinners of their sin (John 16:8), reminding believers of Jesus’ teachings, and leading them into all truth (John 14-16), and helping believers live holy lives pleasing to God through his indwelling presence.

He also provides spiritual gifts for Christians such as speaking other languages or working miracles. The ultimate goal of these gifts is to build up churches both locally and globally with more people becoming followers of Christ.

The Holy Spirit is so important that Jesus left us a promise before he ascended into heaven. He said, “I am going to send you what my Father promised, but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:49). This promise was fulfilled when the Holy Spirit came to empower Jesus’ disciples on the day of Pentecost.
